AgoFact Cite, for law review staff

Your subcite range, pulled and checked.

Upload the article and pick your footnotes. Subcite finds each case in the reporter, checks your quotes and pin cites against the printed page where it can, follows every Id. and supra back to its source, and hands you a pull list for the rest.

What you get back

The draft with comments

A Word comment beside each footnote mark that needs work: a wrong pin, a supra to the wrong note, a form fix. A short label, the reason, and “Please consider…” where there's a fix. The author's text is never touched.

A pull list

Every source in your range, what Subcite could check, and where to pull the rest: HeinOnline for articles, the reporter image for newer cases, the library for books.

A report to work from

Footnote by footnote, with the printed page that holds each quote and a link straight to it.

What it checks, and what it can't

Subcite never calls a source checked unless it read the page. Everything else is labelled for what it is.

Quotes and pin cites in reported cases
Checked against the printed page, for cases in the Caselaw Access Project's reporter scans (through about 2018). A quote is marked checked only when its words are on the page you cite.
Id., supra and short forms
Followed back through the whole article, even past your range, so an Id. after the wrong source or a supra to the wrong note shows up.
Citation form
Every citation in your range, in law review footnote style: typeface, signals, short forms, reporters and courts.
Statutes, articles, books, websites, newer cases
Read and listed with where to pull them. Subcite says plainly that it didn't check them against a page.

Questions

Is it allowed?
Only if your journal allows it. Subcite doesn't write anything: it reads your range and points you to what to look at, the way a careful senior editor would. It sends nothing to an AI model.
What happens to the article?
Nothing is stored. Your browser sends the file to be read, gets the report back, and keeps the file for the export. Close the tab and it's gone.
Which cases can it check against the page?
Reported cases in the Caselaw Access Project's scans, which run to about 2018: U.S. Reports, the Federal Reporter through F.3d, F. Supp. and the state reporters. For a newer case, or one cited only to S. Ct. or Westlaw, Subcite says so and puts it on your pull list.
Does it decide whether a source supports the sentence?
No. Whether the source stands for the proposition is your call as the editor. Subcite gets you the page; you read it.
Can our whole journal use it?
Yes. Managing editors: email kero@agofact.com and we'll run your current production draft free, so you can judge it on a real article before your staff use it.
